Member and creator accounts: what's the difference?

VAST uses one account identity. You choose whether to start as a member or creator, but a creator account also includes member capabilities.

Member account

With a member account, you can:

  • discover creators and posts;
  • follow creators for free;
  • subscribe to tiers;
  • purchase eligible posts once;
  • like, comment, and report where available;
  • join livestreams;
  • manage notifications, and purchased posts.

Creator account

With a creator account, you can do everything a member can do, plus:

  • own and publish to a channel;
  • create and manage chapters;
  • feature posts in Main Square;
  • create tiers and paid posts;
  • manage audience, sales, insights, and payouts;
  • create livestreams;
  • request Vast Blast distribution when eligible.

Do I choose a role every time I log in?

No. Login uses one flow. Enter your email, username, or channel name, then enter your password after VAST identifies your account.

Can a creator follow another creator?

Yes. A creator can follow, subscribe to, purchase, comment on, and join another creator's content without entering a separate member mode.
